366 FLOW / TOXIC MONEY BELIEFS

Day 11 of 366 · full email, unedited

Money Avoidance Disguised As Spirituality

Today's mindset shift: Detachment from outcomes doesn't mean detachment from your electric bill.

$847 short on rent. Again.

Jade teaches yoga in Portland. Posts abundance quotes on Instagram. Manifestation captions over sunset photos. "The universe provides."

The universe does not provide late fees.

She teaches six classes weekly. Charges $15 per student when studios across town charge $28. Won't sell merchandise because "commodifying wellness feels icky." Won't raise rates because "yoga shouldn't be about money."

Her landlord disagrees.

The spiritual language sounds elevated. Feels pure. But strip away the Sanskrit and what's left is a woman who can't ask for fair compensation without feeling dirty.

She reads books about non-attachment. Quotes them to justify why she doesn't negotiate. Calls her financial anxiety "lessons from the universe."

Her teacher's teacher in India? Owns property. Sends kids to good schools. Charges appropriately for decades of expertise.

Poverty isn't enlightenment. It's just poverty with better vocabulary.

The monks she admires took vows within systems that provided food and shelter. Jade took no vow. She borrowed the aesthetics of renunciation without the infrastructure.

The mindset shift:

You're not spiritually evolved. You're scared of money and you've built a belief system to justify it. The monks you quote would charge you for their wisdom. You won't even charge for yours. That's not enlightenment. That's cowardice with incense.

30-Second Action:

  1. Write down one money conversation you've avoided using spiritual language.
  2. Cross out the spiritual justification.
  3. Write what you're actually afraid of underneath.

Tomorrow: Day 12: The Wealth Ceiling You Don't Know Exists

Enlightenment with an eviction notice is just homelessness with extra steps.

This was one morning.

There are 365 more where it came from, in order, one per day. The first 7 are free. No card, no catch.
